Hi, I’m Antonella
and I’m a Pinner. A Pinterest user. An insider.
Here my bio written in 3rd person – because that way, it doesn’t sound all complacence.
Born and raised in Italy, after spending 15 years working as criminal lawyer, Antonella kissed and said goodbye to all her friends and colleagues in 2012. She shook some hands too, and left Italy with two suitcases, a really young plant Eloise and a smart boyfriend to relocate in Germany.
When a weird thing happened: an email popped up with an invitation: “Paul invited you to join on Pinterest”
Oh, what’s that? she asked.
Pinterest is a visual search engine that allows people to save images to virtual pinboards, to anyone other than those who want to use it, he replied.
“Oh, I like the idea, thanks ” and she was in.
She choose a name for her Pinterest profile (antonella) and a niche (her first board was “only chocolate for me”). She also created and arranged her eye-catching boards and full-filled them with trustworthy visual content. She started playing and never stopped since.
Apparently she was playing quite well as a new email showed up in her inbox from a NYTimes Company: “Antonella, your pins are driving tons of people to our clients website. Do you want to became our visual online influencer on Pinterest? Will you show us how to do that with our own pins?”
Is this a real job? I gotta get paid for doing that? She asked.
They hired her as a “visual online influencer” for Hello Society, the first Pinterest marketing and analytics firm. This was her “open door” to work on Pinterest. And she though Pinterest was a platform only for recipes, for interior decor idea and find out how DIY a knit tote bag (shame on her!)
These days, Antonella works collaboratively with established interior, fashion and food bloggers. Her job is to choose the best visual material for their online campaign on Pinterest and help them to understand the huge power of this visual search engine platform for “kick-start”their blog.
And she never looked back.
Now she lives in York, England, with her smart husband, in a charming Victorian house in front of a chocolate factory.
And yes, she is born with this white streak in the hair.
